Dr. Darjené enjoys spending time with her family. Whether they are out enjoying the sights or at home watching movies, being with them is her favorite past time. In addition, she mentors young aspiring women and mothers to pursue their dreams no matter what they have going on in their life.
Dr. Darjené has been in education for the past 10 years. In 2009, she received her Bachelor's degree in Child Development: Early Education and Family studies from North Carolina A&T State University and took her first teaching position in Manassas Park, Virginia. She then went on to receive her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and worked with a non-profit native Hawaiian organization serving Native Hawaiian families. In May 2018, she received her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California and is currently the Director of a private kindergarten and preschool in Carlsbad, CA.
Dr. Darjené serves on several Board of Directors in the community. Since 2015, she served on the MAAC Project BOD, as the Policy Counsel Representative. She then became a member of Child Development Committee and later became Chair of the committee. Additionally, she serves on the Executive Committee as the Secretary. Her most recent board membership is with the Vista Academy Foundations Board and she holds the Secretary position on that Board as well. Lastly, Dr. Darjené teaches part-time at a Theoria Technical College to current & future early childhood educators.
